From humble beginnings, Cherokee was built up the old fashioned way: through hard work, word of mouth, and of course, a delicious product.

Our gourmet popcorn company started nearly on a whim when our founder Don Calcote bought a used movie theater popcorn machine. He popped his first batch of original butter popcorn for an East Texas school carnival, and people were soon clamoring for cans-full. From a home operation to a permanent building, popping around the clock, Calcote grew the simple snack into an explosive business to keep up with demand. The company now offers many more flavors such as white chocolate popcorn and cheddar cheese popcorn, and we ship coast-to-coast. We have been honored to receive the “Taste of Texas” distinction, which recognizes our popcorn gifts as some of the best in the state.
